Teacher Support

behr outcomes is currently undertaking work for the Royal Society of Chemistry, in partnership with Professor John Howson of dataforeducation.info, on examining the future landscape for chemistry initial teacher training (ITT) in England.

See this document for more on the original remit for the study, which began in July 2013.

The study has completed internal reports on Strand 1 (Examination of where chemistry ITT places currently are in England and how they might best be allocated in the next few years) and Strand 2 (Review of the impact and effectiveness of current and proposed ITT routes into chemistry teaching in England). A small workshop on findings to date for England will take place in November 2013.

The focus of the study is now on an international comparisons exercise learning from chemistry/science ITT models in a selection of countries in Europe, North America, Australasia and the Far East.

A final report on policy recommendations is currently on schedule for December 2013 submission.
